SAT 101 Chapter 8 - Final Thoughts & Test-day Tips
Well, this is it! You did it. Let's be honest, none of us thought you'd ever make it here. You've proven that your attention span is far longer than the 5 seconds of your fellow zoomers, and your reading ability is miraculously above a 1st grade level. Maybe your parents will even finally stop seeing you as a disappointment.
On the flip side, since you now know all of the SAT's tricks, every mistake is on you from now on.
Some test-day tips
You've probably heard most of this before, but it's worth repeating. The day before you take the SAT, you should not stay up late studying. In fact, don't spend too long studying at all. Your brain is a muscle, and you need to give it a rest day before asking it to focus for 4 straight hours.
So definitely do not take a practice test. At most, just review this SAT 101 guide from the beginning, and look over the little cheat sheet I'll email you when you give me your email address. It's a single page filled with the most important shortcuts and tricks to remember, and won't overload your brain.
Common advice that is actually bad
You've probably heard things like "sleep extra early" and "eat a full breakfast" when you're about to take the SAT. But this can be pretty bad advice. What you actually want to do is just maintain your regular routine for the most part. Don't suddenly change your sleep schedule or fill your stomach with food it doesn't normally have - that will probably just make you feel slightly off and might even make you sick. The last thing you want is to have to suddenly run to the bathroom with explosive diarrhea in the middle of the test. Just chill out, do what you normally do, just make sure you get a decent rest and eat whatever you normally eat.
Visit my guides to other sections
Now that you're done here, it's time to focus your efforts more specifically on other sections. Like I said before, I'd recommend starting with reading, because it's where you get to develop understanding about the structure and logic of the test, but it doesn't matter too much.
