Writing & Grammar Guide - Coming Soon
This site has been out for less than a month. I'm working hard on this section and it will be out within the next month or two. Just wait a little you impatient little shits. It's hard work and I'm doing this for free. If you haven't already, check out my SAT 101 guide for a bunch of essential tricks.
This section is generally the least important to study, or at least learn tricks in. So it will be the last one I put out.
There's not too many tricks because you kinda just need a decent grasp on English grammar. I'll put some quick ones here while I write the full guide.
Semicolons are periods
This is the main trick in this section. Semicolons and periods are literally the same thing. Don't waste any time thinkign about what semicolons are used for. They are just periods. If a period works, so does a semicolon, and you won't be asked to choose between the two.
If you are between two answers and one has a semicolon and the other one a period, it means you either fucked up and they are both wrong, or the thing that makes one of them wrong is something other than the punctuation.
When combining sentences, concision is king
A lot of SAT guides stress the point that being concise is always better, but that's a little misleading. I've found that telling students that can make them choose shorter answers just because they are short, without realizing that the grammar is still wrong. Y'all just take things too fucking literally.
Most of the time, concision doesn't actually come into play. The only questions on which you really need to think about concision is when your asked to combine two sentences or reword a sentence or phrase. Otherwise, just focus on which answer choice makes proper grammatical sense.
